ACTORS NEEDED FOR SHORT PERFORMANCE (PAID)

Found In Translation Theatre Company need 3 actors for developing and performing a short excerpt of Aristophanes’ Frogs as special guests at a schools drama festival run by the Iris Project, an educational charity promoting the study of the ancient world in British state schools. The performance (which won’t be longer than about 15mins) will be in Oxford on the morning of Friday 21st June. Actors will also need to be available for a handful of workshops/rehearsals in Colchester over the preceding weeks, though these can be arranged flexibly. The total pay is £40 plus travel to and from Oxford arranged by the Company (likely by car share or train). This opportunity would particularly suit emerging actors of any gender, ethnicity or background that are confident with comedy, clowning and caricatures. Experience of devising and/or adaptation is especially desirable. Previous knowledge of Aristophanes and ancient Greek comedy is not necessary, but a willingness to engage with the source material is. We are particularly interested to hear from actors that might be open to working with the Company beyond this opportunity for future R&D and practitioning projects (which, though sometimes voluntary, are paid wherever possible). To apply please email fittheatrecompany@gmail.com by the end of Friday 31st May. Please include your CV and a short statement of interest detailing (1) why you would like to take part and (2) what makes you suitable for the project. Feel free to include links to your showreels, portfolio, profile on relevant casting sites etc. Found In Translation is a young graduate company recently relocated to Colchester, after two years producing theatre for the fringe in London and Edinburgh. Our mission is to tell today’s tales with adaptation and inspiration from our ancient past. We also have a successful educational outreach program, which includes delivering workshops in schools across the country and collaborating with educational charities on projects like this exciting opportunity!
